About Johnson-Woodford Company
Overview
Johnson-Woodford Company was originally incorporated in 1980 by Nevin W. Mann, CCFE(1). After serving in various executive roles for a Fortune 100 company, Nevin founded the consulting practice with a focus on management process, employee and executive leadership development, customer service, and marketing and sales management. These areas remain core competencies of the firm, almost 30 years hence.

In the late 1980s, Nevin joined the Hay Group, an international consulting firm, bringing his clients to Hay and becoming a Senior Management Consultant, heading up Hay's sales and marketing practice in the Eastern U.S.

In the early 1990s, Nevin became directly associated with the deathcare industry, as General Manager of St. Michael's Cemetery in New York City. Most recently, he was President and CEO of the West Laurel Hill Cemetery Company, which was in a turnaround situation. During his tenure, the funeral service business attained market leadership, with revenue increasing more than two and one-half times in eight years. Similar sales results were achieved in the cemetery segment. Some achievements received national industry recognition.

More than thirty new and innovative programs were initiated at West Laurel Hill to improve customer service and product quality, sales, marketing communications, Internet presence, and community relations. Additional market-leading initiatives included an improved and innovative sales process, the developing and offering of a scattering memorialization option, the first U.S. combination offering of green funerals and a green burial section, a veterans section, and improved monument and mausoleum marketing.

In 2009, Nevin re-established Johnson-Woodford, to serve the deathcare industry fulltime. (1) Certified Cemetery and Funeral Executive (CCFE) is designated by peer recognition by the International Cemetery, Funeral, and Cremation Association.

Engagement Approach and Collaboration Nevin Mann is the principal management consultant at Johnson-Woodford. He oversees all major assignments, calling on assistance from Alliance Partners, who provide supplemental functional expertise and their knowledge and experience to quality check findings and recommendations.
